Jackson Wentworth, Hollywood's go-to King of Rom-Coms, longs for the day he can live life true to himself but his agent won't let him come out for fear of ruining his career. He teeters on the edge of financial doom and loss of freedom every day-- and every day gets on Grindr to get his... outlet. Some guys stick around longer than others (if they sign the NDA) but none last. And all he wants is for someone to last.
SYNOPSIS:
DL4Same is a romantic dramedy TV series, set in contemporary Hollywood, with a small ensemble cast who all impact Jackson Wentworth on a daily basis: his personal trainer/nutritionist (Diego), his executive assistant (JoJo), his agent (Sally Bernhard).
When we meet them in the pilot, it's on the brink of Oscar-winning director Burly Bronson offering Jackson a role outside his Rom-Com wheelhouse: the law man in a western. But the idea of taking on such a role is antithetical to who Jackson keeps arguing he wants to be and the kind of work he wants to do. Especially since Burly Bronson is a raging homophobe who believes "woke" people have ruined the industry. Incensed by Sally's position on his own life and caught between a rock and a hard place, Jackson must decide whether or not to continue in the business, and how.
But his heart is lonely and his habits with attractive younger men on Grindr have a tremendous amount of sway over him. Just as his current contract with a Weho Twink Boy Toy ends in fireworks, Jackson enlists JoJo and Diego to bring him the next man of the moment, Dylan. When they finally meet in person, it's clear the chemistry is right between them and Jackson will soon start to imagine a future with Dylan, who tries to slow role his own overwhelming feelings and stay smart about what he's doing.
The job on Burly Bronson's new picture cannot be passed up though, and tension will continue to mount between Jackson and all of his team the deeper he falls for Dylan (especially JoJo who has his own ambitions and scars) and with Burly himself, who will become more and more forceful about Jackson conforming. By the end of the first season he will have to decide once and for all what is actually most important to him: his career or his own heart.
