In the future a human drone will become self-aware. His new ability to dream and to love will be the weapon that saves humanity and all artificial life. 

SYNOPSIS:

As a human drone, his existence was a mundane routine ending in hours of working a maintenance drone. One day, while getting off the bus, all that changed. The shoelace of a female drone in front of him broke, sending her crashing down the steps and to the ground below. Not being self-aware, he tripped over her and fell, crashing to the ground face first. Suddenly, all the neuro-link chatter was interrupted, and he briefly had free thought. He took in his surroundings, not understanding what he was seeing. He turned to the woman, who was injured, and offered her help by extending his hand. He was ordered to return to the building but refused; instead, he pleaded for her life. The AI informed him she was defective and must be destroyed while asking if he was defective. Realizing that his awareness could cost him, he complied with the order and returned to his apartment building. After running a complete scan, the AI continued to monitor him. That night, he had his first dream. His brain scans revealed that he had reached a higher level of functioning than they had ever seen before. A dark entity now lived within the system and had been torturing the AIs. Slowly, one of his new memories reveals that his name was Luke and that he was born a human. He does his best to hide his awareness, which almost gets him in trouble. The dark entity has been trying to reach his world for thousands of years. Now, with Luke's new brain power, he could make that possible. He was given orders to open a gateway in his dreams to bring the creatures to this world. While dreaming, he opened a door into another dimension. A beautiful woman entered, and he knew her somehow. Suddenly, an evil, vile creature appeared attached to her back. He tried to free her from the creature, but failed. His touch with the creature was painful, so it took the woman back out the door with it. The dark entity was enraged and ordered his termination. Luke's instinct for survival kicked in. They attacked him from apartment to apartment throughout the building, unable to destroy him. Then the drone they sent after was the woman, Christina, from his dream. He removes her neurochip, and together they fight to survive. Cornered and about to be terminated, an AI offered them a way out. Help them send back the dark entity and go free or be destroyed. Luke chose to try and send the creature back to its world, but things didn't go as planned.
