Hello people! I'm author of a dozen published novels, and I'm currently shopping my scripts. I've got SF, based on my "Fear" series novels featuring Jaguar Addams, a woman who uses her telepathic skills to rehab the worst criminals by making them face the fears that drove their crimes.( http://wildsidepress.com/authors-c/chepaitis-b-a/ )And I've got a paranormal/historical script, The Amber, based on the very strange history of Lithuania. Recently had a consultation with one of Stage 32 execs. It was great! I learned a lot, and made some potentially wonderful connections. I recommend it to everyone.

Lately, I'm thinking a lot about the role of women in Hollywood, and the very subtle ways women are made invisible. Here's a post from a Charlie Rose interview talking about that. I'm thinking of turning either a short script or a web series into animation. Though I'm a well-published author, and have optioned scripts, I don't' know much about animation, so I'm trying to find out all I can about the prospects. The short film is less than 10 minutes. The web series prospect is longer. Both are based on my published novels. I'd like to find out how to work with an animator on either.

A WRITER'S DAY 1) Walk the dogs, who think I'm a little, well, crazy, to be outside today. 2) Consider the Oscars from last night, and the TWO IMPORTANT THINGS I noticed. 3) THING ONE - though I loved, loved, loved Patricia Arquette's speech, I wonder if she or any other Oscar nominees donated their $160,000 swag bags to charity. Hmm. I'd like some numbers on that. 4)THING TWO - ALL the "Best Picture" movies had a man at the center. ALL of them. Not that Hollywood is a boy's club or anything . . . . 5) Wonder if BIRDMAN was written as BIRDWOMAN if it still would have won. Or been nominated. Or sold and produced. 6) Wonder how WHIPLASH would change if it had a girl drummer. 7) Surely there are girl drummers. Surely there are BIRDWOMEN. RIGHT??? 8) Consider getting into the Oscars next year, in order to steal the Swag Bags, and bring them to a Women's Shelter. Or a Soup Kitchen. 9) Consider figuring out what makes ANYONE think Oscar nominees need $160,000 worth of free stuff. 10) Tell dogs I'm not crazy. Hey everyone! I'm author of 11 published novels and 2 published books of nonfiction. The novels include 8 featuring Jaguar Addams and the 'fear' series - The Fear Principle, A Lunatic Fear, and so on. My protagonist works in a future prison system where she uses her psi capacities to make criminals face the fears that drove their crimes. Yes, I've got scripts for these, which I'm currently shopping. My nonfiction includes Feathers of Hope, and Saving Eagle Mitch, and they led me into producing my first short film, All For the Birds. I'm looking to expand that into a longer documentary about Pete Dubacher and Berkshire Bird Paradise. Saving Eagle Mitch - my true life adventure of helping a Navy SEAL rescue a war-wounded eagle from Afghanistan - is already a script. Nice to meet you all!
