Oh and here's an interview that just went up yesterday about the screenplay to book to film process about Rex'd. J/R, what's gone on? I think everyone but Marla was respectful, most of us were congratulatory, and even Alle only posted a question that could easily be construed as wanting info for her "process." Are there PMs we're unaware of? Anyway, sorry it's struck you so negatively. I'd, personally, be pleased with the great bulk of these comments. And, congratulations, again. It's a very cool thing, the whole warp and woof of how this played out, for you. I'd actually be interested in hearing that story.

That said, again, really amateur and disrespectful move, Marla. Really. You've been on the boards since you were criticized, here, and have done nothing to alter or remove your message. Piss poor. It'll certainly go a long way as a warning for anyone who would think to go into collaboration with you, as it absolutely speaks to character.

Directed by the "Saw" director, soon to be know as the "Pawed" director. I always wonder where the writing stops and production and director add visual touches not in the writing....like, Billy Bob's damage, or the other damage seen in the pics....all written in the script?

I pulled up dozens of bear mauling articles and used descriptions from those attacks within the script for the various scenes/attacks so the production could re-imagine for the screen. This was a very personal script when I wrote it. Originally, Adrien Brody was going to star and produce. Then other producers came on and re-cast. Things change. Plot points change. But my initial script is what got the actors signed onto it.

I see there is another production called Red Machine...2009. Probably straight to DVD. Thornton's work on Jane Mansfields Car (director/star) is excellent, and his ideas and sensibility are always fascinating and thoughtful. I hope he doesn't get too chewed up....you know, some duct tape, and you're good to go.....

I titled it after what Treadwell named a bear on Letterman... supposedly, that bear (The Red Machine) is the one that ate him and his fiance. The Grizzly Man... it's now entitled Endangered by the studio...

J/R yeah hiking helps for me too. Coffee would make it worse!!! Reps, yeah, well. That's what this producer was going to help me get. Or shall help, but just not yet. Richard, I hear ya. I was about to produce a film with a friend but things stopped us that were out of our hands. Then mostly because her passion wasn't there as much as mine. Vic and Julie, I agree on youtube. I even have a hubby who's a producer/videographer editor! I just can't decide what i want to film. So just keep writing new scripts. Which is fine too.

I don't know Marc Zicree personally, but he does organize workshops. He may be a bit on the busy side right now as he will be filming in a week or two. He's not a stan-offish person. And he is "the guy" who has the answers, as he is an accomplished writer. Search him out on YouTube. Denise... The best advice you have gotten is to keep writing and to be patient. You have a small advantage in that the producer asked you to write this. So sending a, "Hi. Just wanted to see what's going on." email every couple of weeks or so isn't a horrible thing. My question is.... do you have a written agreement already? If he rejects your script, can he claim a piece of it if you sell it to another producer or is it yours? Even if you write something on spec for someone, you need a writer's agreement that YOU own whatever you have written if it is rejected. And as a reminder to anyone writing on spec for anyone (other than yourself) you need to know that when you choose to not be an investment to someone, you make it easier for them to ignore you. When someone has invested money (even a little) in what you are creating, they are much more motivated to see you succeed.
