In particular, what about the well-known affiliation of WGA-East with the AFL-CIO (a labor union which is notorious for its corruption and its promotion of leftist, anti-American politics which have NO direct relevance to the well-being of workers)??? In other words, if one joins WGA-East, how does one know that his/her dues are not being used to advance the AFL-CIO's anti-American agenda??? Also, if you're an American nationalist (as I am), then how do you know you won't be discriminated against in the WGA (which, as I have already said, is at least partly affiliated with the AFL-CIO and therefore likely shares its political views) -- for example, that you won't be pressured to stop promoting American nationalism in your screenplays and/or to write screenplays which promote cosmopolitanism instead???
The Guild does not tell you what to write. That's up to you and the market place. But if you find that you don't want to benefit from collective bargaining, you can refuse to join. Quentin Tarantino is not a member of the WGA and he seems to be doing just fine.

Expand commentExcuse ME?! The marketplace?! The kind of politically correct garbage which is being made these days has NOTHING to do with the marketplace -- people DO NOT WATCH that crap (as the ratings for this year's Oscars prove), so there is DEFINITELY some kind of political coercion and/or conspiracy going on, there is NO other explanation for this!
You forgot to mention that if you work for a signatory news organization, you are required to join the WGA. At least that's how I became a member back in the 1980s when I worked as a news writer for an ABC News division.
Thanks for pointing that out! You must have some amazing stories to tell!
Thank you Christine for this informative piece, Joining today
Congrats!!!
Great benefits!
If you write for animation, WGA coverage is prickly, so do your research.

Expand commentYou are so right, Laurie. There's a whole additional blog in the different kinds WGA Caucus memberships (animation, Independent Film, Video Games, and nonfiction, to name a few) and their respective requirements. In that particular situation, animation, applicants are required to have written the equivalent of at least one half-hour of produced animation. As a caucus member, you are not accorded all the rights and privileges that come with current membership, most notably, no voting rights in Guild elections.
Hi Chris! Love this! So very happy that you shared this. You always give the best WGA advice when we chat. I always hang up like, Damn Chris knows her stuff. I've got work to do! lol Thanks again!!
It’s always a pleasure to speak with you!!! Hope you are well.
I am! Same to you!

WHAT DO YOU THINK?
This is AMERICA-HATING TERRORIST PROPAGANDA, and this will only serve as an excuse for white racists to hate all of you! (And if the majority of you actually share these views, then they're not that far wrong to do so!)
What is the script about? Is it about trashing our heroes in the Border Patrol, as I suspect it is?
Who knows? Don't jump to conclusions
This is awesome. Very inspiring.
Stage 32 is awesome! Congrats Christine!
sent you a request!
Found ya! :-)
Hey guys, Donn Swaby here. I am in the middle of planning a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to do a proof of concept short of my feature, to then help raise finances for the feature. In pre-production on the campaign video, using seed&spark's platform. Who else has done a crowdfunding campaign? Any advice or suggestions on what to do/what not to do? How was your successful (or not)? Please reach out to me if this is you. Also, if there is anything I can ever do to help someone with their project, please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks!
How do I get a message to RB directly?
Julie , who is RB?
Lol RB is the founder. He might take a while to respond but he nearly always does.
Set in Arizona on the US/Mexican border, this crime drama follows two Border Patrol agents who succumb to temptation when they find a large pile of drug cash. Problem is, they’re not the only ones after that money.
So, I just got booted off of twitter this week for being a bot. How can I be a bot? reCAPTCHA confirmed I'm human! Anyone else having this kind of identity crisis?

This is a network for you, built by you. Like most things in life, the more you participate, the greater the rewards. We ask all new members to pay it forward by inviting 5 fellow creatives to the network and by spreading the word of Stage 32 through other social media sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. The more creatives, the stronger the network. The stronger the network, the more opportunities.
Thanks for joining the movement and for being a part of this most talented and inspiring community. I very much look forward to your contributions.
Thanks, and have a creative day!
