SYNOPSIS:

Katee, a thirty year old exotic dancer in Los Angeles wants a new life. She's tired of the "grind" and wants to go back to school. Her biggest rival is the boss' current girlfriend, a twenty-three year old named Jewel, party girl extraordinaire, who is jealous of Katee's friendship with the boss. Katee signs up at the local community college and finds a new friend in Ron who teaches there. Ron, 53, is a long time bachelor, is smitten with Katee who likes Ron but is not in love with him. Thinking that she should make a clean break, Katee takes a job as a waitress (so she could trade one "grind" for another) but is found out by Jewel who now tries to blackmail Katee (Jewel has a drug habit to support). Her younger married sister, Dee, wants to help her directionless older sister with money she has from her marriage to her wealthy husband (she never lets an opportunity pass to remind Katee of this fact). Her sister sends her money despite Katee's protestations. With a new place, a new job and making new friends, Katee finds her new life more stressful than her old. Her new job leaves little time for her to study. Jewel continually hounds Katee for hush money (her new employers don't know of her past) which leaves little to pay the rent. At one point, Katee begins to wonder if it is all worth it.
