I'm just a small human being who needs a summer job. My dad wants me to come home. I have no drivers license and I can't really afford to move and I need to get experience. (Not asking for a job, just looking to vent)
Hmm. Okay, I will think about that!
Make a deal with Dad. If he can rustle up a good summer job for you, you will go home. Then see what he finds! I used to take inventory at supermarkets; I worked as many shifts as I could on weekends...

I used to take inventory at supermarkets; I worked as many shifts as I could on weekends to supplement my 9-to-5 job. Supermarket inventory is something anyone can do & you get paid in cash the same day.

Go to studios, film locations, film schools, seminars, and mix with as many professionals in the industry as possible. Ask questions, tag along to help, and generally get along, and make friends with everyone on set. Look after the runners, as much as the director and talent. I asked a respected lady producer in British TV for a job, some 21 years ago. She politely told me "at 36 you're generally too old for what we're looking for...it's a young persons game now, Please close the door on your way out!!!". I thanked her and left. In 2014 we were at the Royal Television Society Awards here in the UK, and on our table was the same lady.....now a freelancer. We chatted and she claimed that the industry "isn't the same as it used to be....and did I have any freelance work going at my company?" "Well" I said "Sorry no...you see it's a young per..............." Good luck Rachael.

This is a network for you, built by you. Like most things in life, the more you participate, the greater the rewards. We ask all new members to pay it forward by inviting 5 fellow creatives to the network and by spreading the word of Stage 32 through other social media sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. The more creatives, the stronger the network. The stronger the network, the more opportunities.
Thanks for joining the movement and for being a part of this most talented and inspiring community. I very much look forward to your contributions.
Thanks, and have a creative day!
RB
