I've been thinking since I watched a trailer for the kid King. Why did 20thcenturyfox invest $ 60 million in this cliché? It's already crashed with 32.1 million earnings. Didn't really the Fox executives see that this movie sucks?

Doug Walker comments: "if they had told us the same story but in a different order..." What about if Jen is the POV character? For me Chris Pratt in the first Act seems like Tom Hanks in "Cast Away". Switching that to Jen's POV? Intriguing. Perhaps more engaging. What do you think?
Damn. Now I'm wanting to see it from that perspective. Seems it would be more intriguing coming from that angle. Enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing.
I think it was a great film killed by marketing. All the advertising painted like a thriller when it was just a good love story.
The audience that turned up hated it.

Someone explaining why they did a terrible deed is unlikely to garner much sympathy. Having the Chris Pratt scenes showed as a flashback has problems: It's either showed as him telling her about what he went through, why should she believe him, or as an accurate portrayal of what happened, takes away from her emotional impact of what happened. The last proposal for an ending would make for a good basis for a franchise or TV series. How different people react to a horrible situation.
I absolutely love this perspective!!!

Polarization is due to the controversial deception by Pratt. The script as written works fine. Audience reaction depends on how that deception is accepted.
Just got back from my first Sundance film festival. Did anyone else go? It was absolutely insane!
Well my favorite film was "The Last Black Man in San Francisco" and my friends and I got to hang out with the director and cast. But people like Walton Goggins, Tessa Thompson, and Shia Labeouf were hanging out in lounges and in theaters watching screenings with us.
You can message me Pamela and I’ll tell you all my stories :)

We all stayed in Langham Hilton cos sponsor friend got invites for whole weeks parties. They certainly rock! Apparently they had a copycat London 90s and Sundance put the phone down on them.
Debbie - I'll try to get over there next year.
@Doug Great if you there. Sundance festival on its own home turf (only met them London) is on my wish list and money in pot for travel.
Hi everyone. I was a member a while back but the site has changed a lot so I'm trying to figure it all out. I'm looking to network as much as possible and share the trailer for my film BOOST.
Good luck with it! Traveling the festivals? I hear Toronto is coming up.
Unfortunately not any time soon, I haven't even begun production yet.
Oh! I thought this was a preview. Have fun!
Good luck, man. Piece of advice... really have to be careful to even out the sound. Sound will sink a project faster than a soft image.
Hi Maurice! Like the trailer.
What's up, Stage 32!? My name is Eric. I guess I'm the new kid on this block. I'm looking forward to networking and growing with y'all (yep....I'm a Southern dude). Right now, I'm writing and developing a lot of content that my colleagues and I plan to unleash upon the internet. Catch y'all on the next go-round.
Hi Eric. You'll love it here. Invite sent.
Welcome Eric!

Since childhood, I knew I wanted to make films from the moment I could recall the first film I remember ever watching (The Lion King). I would write ideas down, ranging from the ridiculous to the impossible, but that's when my mind was at its most creative. Once I entered college, I was finally able to bring my ideas and creativity to life. Now being a college graduate, I want to continue making films as a director and continue to demonstrate my talent and perfecting it.
Welcome David and good sailing.

I hope one day just to get a chance for my family film script G.I BRO (Goonies meets Iron Eagle) gets bought, made and then pulled apart in forums like this.
The same goes for the reboot of Total Recall, Conan, RoboCop. Studios thought it would be a success like in the 80's.

Well if all these studios eat up each other it’s less jobs. Just waiting for Disney to be our new overlords lol

The box office situation obviously could have been better, and the results reflect all of the competition (theatrical or non-theatrical); release date strategies; and marketing strategies. Some do well, and some don't.
I'd ask you if you actually saw it, but you said you based your "it sucks" opinion on only the trailer, and you don't exactly look like you were in the target audience, either.
Best fortunes in your creative endeavors, Bager!

Kids films also have a library value which other films don’t. The Lion King was released every 5-10 years with a new DVD print.
