Screenwriter gets 1 - 2 % of budget for 1st feature.
In that same contract is a clause giving that same writer "rights of first refusal" for any sequels, prequels, etc.
And there's about 60 other things.
Cheers!

Listen to Dave, he’s right on point
Amazing :) Thank you Dave :) I want to make sure that every part of our crew from the writer towards the actors get paid fair and correct

A TREATMENT FOR A FEATURE FILM SCREENPLAY
BY SMART JOSEPH ONEYKA
JANUARY 2022
Richie Ndochukwu, 39, a handsome special intelligent officer
with the Nigerian Police Force, trim, dark and jovial. “Hey
Richie!” It’s a name that commands order; with his
sophistication, it sticks to the mind.
Richie pulls up his 2016 Toyota Camry sport at his designated
Police parking lot; turns off his car stereo that reports the
traffic situation across the Lagos city metropolis, as he
steps out, the first thing you’ll see is the walk.
The Richie carriage, his confidence, the bounce at his feet
that carries his weight effortlessly, the wind beneath his feet grazes the soft
grass along the walk way ; his blazer dripping over
the warm morning sun, his smile reveals his true essence and
exudes happy vibes, - as his persona turns heads even
among colleagues but Rose begs to differ. “NO, THANK YOU,”
said Rose, mustering a silent disgust - “PLAYER” as Richie
flirts with her and other female officers.
Always true to his work, Richie never backs down on any task
and neither does his sexual escapade, he flirts with several
female officers who could not resist his charm till he
receives the dismissal from an on-going Apapa court trial, to
receive another with life-threatening tasks from James, and
was ordered for the task immediately
THE MISSION
Richie leads the police tag-team on a mission to investigate
a euthanasia homicide case, involving the heir to a board
member at Smart Havens conglomerate
A 112 emergency call reported public gunfire at 21st road
Festac and the tag team is to infiltrate and bring culprits to
book
The crime scene is tagged with the yellow tape and dog tags to
mark foot prints and cartridge points, police officers were
barricading the crowding spectators from contaminating the
crime scene, other officers were taking pictures and then
Richie and his team arrives in the new Lagos police vehicle,
Mr. Tukos carries his son who is covered in the pool of blood,
on his lap, sitting on the tarred road by the passenger door
of his car as Richie approaches -
“Please don’t let him die” – Tukos begs – as medicals carries
the dying young man into the emergency ambulance
“How many were they?” - Richie asks
“They were five, or six or more; I mean they were all over my
face, shooting at my boy” Tukos cries
Interrogations continues with other officers working together
to ascertain the incident that took place
THE COMPANY

The socially influenced often goes to this rich and loud pub

that we go for lunch, suddenly my other friend pulled up and
picked offence that I was with another man” – Debiie defends
“Yes, you were with another man, because he did not disclaim
the notion” – Mrs Barak stresses
“Why are you even defending this other guy, you don’t even
know him and what he is capable of doing” – Debbie argues with
Mrs Barak
“A man who loves you can only do so much; he couldn’t stand
the sight of seeing you with another man, that’s why I would
say he cares”
“Well he should throw it to trash, I don’t need it no more” –
Debbie utters
The Chairman (Mr Barak) got between the ladies to help resolve
the differences
“Ladies, you need to stop all this ranting, - Mr Barak demands

all day at her parking lot just to be able to speak to her.

eloped, everyone is worried about his safety including his
worst enemy Saint

Richie’s disappearance
“What? Yea I hate the guy for taking my woman, and will keep
fighting him but kidnap, that’s beneath me, that’s being
childish, I could never do that” – Saint denies
“We’ll talk latter, I have to find a friend, see ya” – Debbie
gobbles the hot and expensive drink Saint poured her during
her visit
Many question were left unanswered till two of the apprehended
culprits from Mr Tukos case decided to go into a deal with the
police, where they reveal the hide out of their leader (Mafia)
and realize that Saint is the master mind of the entire kidnap

looking to have another chance with her

Expand postHey There,
I am a creative writer based in Lasgidi (Lagos Nigeria) and I have a new feature film written and ready for pitch.
The African creative industry and stories are on the verge of escalation and it craves exposure by professionals in the industry, who are willing to break age long barriers and are willing to explore, research, dig for deep ethnic origins and ethical conflict with indepth creative intuitions to milk the abundance of the untapped stories in Africa.
I therefore hope to connect with edge leaping and earth shaking producers of Biopic Adaptations, directors and writers to kick it home to Africa...
Now, back to my feature film, PB is a romance action story with cultural traits, class and social difference, plotted in Nigeria with contemporary display of the everyday social activities, borrowed on a sideline of a phycological believe that every man is polygamous in nature.
I'd like to have the opportunity to pitch this story and I look forward to connecting with people of like minds who can mentor, coach and guide me in the right direction.
Hi there, I love the concept of exploring ethnic origins.
Hey Iroanusi Smart Joseph. Your feature film sounds quite deep and I hope it works out well for you.

I haven't focused on competitions, although don't we see plenty of them announced through Stage32? Might mean a quality filter for beginners to get some help. I am told authoritatively though, for the industry only the top five matter, and to google for top five : )

I'd like to feature in any of such competition, I write Action Thriller and Action Drama
