A misanthropic animal shelter owner allows himself to fall for a woman he thinks he can trust--unaware she's a disguised pop star desperately searching for meaning in her own life.
SYNOPSIS:
Angus Caldwell is an animal rescuer who takes his job very seriously—so much so that he gets along far better with the animals in his life than the actual human beings. He does have one goal--to purchase the land on which his animal sanctuary sits. The problem is, he has to buy it from his father--a wealthy hedge fund manager who wants his son to do more with his life than rescue dogs and cats. Hoping it will soften his father’s resistance, Angus agrees to his father’s request to take a college class.
In the class, he meets Fabiana--a Brazilian with whom he takes an instant dislike. The feeling, as it turns out, is mutual. Unbeknownst to Angus, Fabiana is actually an international pop star in disguise, who likes to escape her celebrity and take college courses. They are constantly arguing in class, annoying not only each other but all their fellow students. Things begin to change when they are assigned to work on a project together. At first, they find it even more aggravating--but working together to help a dog wounded by a hit and run driver begins to thaw their relationship.
Just as they appear to be falling in love, two unexpected complications arrive: Angus’ father tells him he’ll be selling the land to a developer, and he discovers he’s been dating a huge celebrity. Resentful of being lied to, and the fact that Fabiana tried to buy the land for him, Angus sends Fabiana away. Her absence, though, teaches him the folly of living his life distrustful of others, and asks people in his life he has kept at a distance to help him keep the sanctuary--and reconnect with Fabiana.
