We'll soon have a requirement to score a short film of ours (micro short, actually) that we plan to put on the festival circuit. It's a silent film, so the score needs to carry it from start to finish. ("The Rainbow Connection" from the Muppets is kind of what we have in our heads, but who knows.) If you have experience in this area--we're not sold on the sounds of any particular instrument(s), so this is a little wide open--and have the interest and bandwidth to do this in the late-Sep/Early-Oct time frame, please DM me.

The first is entitled "Be Careful" and about a hungover man who wakes up to a whole new reality. The second is the short film follow-up to our festival film "Boxed," which made its world premiere a little over a year ago in San Jose, California. In "Boxed 2: Resurrection", Jack the butcher from the first film is in hiding. However, new custom cuts are behind all the havoc, as well as a resurrection of sorts, in town. More details on both projects will be coming soon. We should have opportunities for scoring, crew and talent in both the northern Virginia and Shreveport, Louisiana area within the next year. Any questions in the interim? Please him me up here or at productions@seascapefilms.com
Today I pitched for the first time and received a script request from Principato Young. Any congratulations go directly to the incredible Joey who guided my script so confidently — even asked me to rework it into a comedy — and got in front of some great people. Thanks Joey.
Awesome. Congrats!
Congratulations, Jeff!
Congratulations!

It's a thriller so it already has a bit of a surprise ending that is uncovered through the whole movie.... so it's a surprise and that makes sense. Then suddenly, I get this "brilliant" idea that would add a big twist at the end... it'd be a shock! In the recesses of my mind, I hear someone's advise that surprise is better than shock. Surprise makes sense and feels right, whereas shock apparently seems like a cheap trick. I'm wondering what others think... does shock have value in a screenplay? Should we stick to surprise and leave shock alone? Is shock and surprise together too much? Love to hear what you guys think! Thanks!

The ending of Jaws was the ending that the characters, and the audience, deserved. It was shocking, but not surprising. The ending of Casablanca was surprising, but well set up. Answer your theme, whether overcoming fear in Jaws or conquering total self-regard in Casablanca, and you will have a great ending.

Expand postSeaScape Films is pleased to announce open auditions for the following roles in its newest non-union production: 1. Matthew - male, late 20s to early 30s - handsome, though heart broken. His girlfriend has disappeared after a brutal argument on a rainy night that saw her run away from him and his car into the woods, alone. Four scenes to be shot over 1 day and 2 evenings: The fight with his girlfriend, the interrogation by police officers in his apartment, a dream sequence in which the killer lands in his bed, and ultimately a scene where he confronts the killer. 2. Officer Greene - female, late 20s to late 40s - seasoned police officer leading the investigation into the disappearance of a local member of the community. Three scenes to be shot over 1 day and 1 night: The aforementioned interrogation scene, a daytime search scene, a daytime interrogation scene of a butcher that ultimately ends with the officer's death. 3. Riclyn Bailey - female, 20s - close friend of Matthew's, skilled archer (though no archery skills necessary), and a little schizoid. Riclyn needs to provide a soothing influence on Matthew, who is distraught after the disappearance of his girlfriend. Major lead actress role involving numerous scenes to be shot over 3-4 days/nights. Filming schedule TBD in late Feb/early Mar, likely weekend work. Deferred payment based on festival payout. Completed film will be entered in a minimum of six film festivals beginning with the 2013 Louisiana Film Prize. For audition dates/times or any questions, please contact productions@seascapefilms.com.
