Ford

This was a really fun automotive video campaign where we had plenty of time to mine the comedic riches of the “line-o-rama” scenario. Great comedic actors who can keep inventing lines or easily incorporate other people’s lines from the creative team are always a joy to work with in this type of setup. The shooting style and cutting pattern for these spots was pretty simple, but that’s often what makes comedy work the best. When coverage is too complicated or the shots are a little too obtuse, the viewer often gets distracted and distraction (not misdirection) is always the enemy of a good joke. We shot this campaign with our reliable Red Dragon-x camera and our Sigma Cine Primes. We lit it with Joker, Aputure, and Litepanels lighting. The DP was Justin McAleece and Ian McAleece was the gaffer. The spots were produced and directed by Jean-Luc Slagle. Our client was Scope Studios.

Captain Cow Pow

Top O’ The Morn Farms is a dairy headquartered in Tulare CA that makes some great consumer products. They do fresh milk the old fashioned way sold in reusable glass bottles, they have a drive through in Tulare that serves delicious milkshakes, and have recently tapped into the chocolate milk craze with a caffeinated protein-packed drink aptly named “Capitan Cow Pow”. To launch this fun new offering, Top O’ The Morn contacted Blare Media to make a 30 second spot to share with a large trade organization. Working with Producer-Writer-Director Joel Janecek, they sketched out creative and logistics. Production was led by the expert craftsmanship of Director of Photography Justin McAleece with post handled by Editor extraordinaire Mauricio Tapia. Additional key contributions giving the piece extra POW were George Ozburn as our Cow Pow recommending trainer and actress/models Dayana Avila and Edith Limon. Voiceover was done by the talented Mar Andersons.

BSB Law

When BSB law reached out to us for new legal spots, we were excited to undertake the challenge. They wanted writing, casting, and an approach that conveyed the urgency of reaching out for legal advice without falling into the stereotypical tropes of legal service advertising. Writer-Producer-Director Joel Janecek lead the charge to write spots that spoke to someone who might have been hurt on the job. Once scripts were in place, the Blare team, with Director of Photography and Lead Editor Mauricio Tapia leading the way, setup casting shoots that doubled as green screen tests. Key to our approach was both pulling a great key with lighting and framing to the background images. Casting came together when local pro Paul Pavelski was chosen for the English spots and Felix Hernandez, a working commercial actor with national credits, was cast out of Southern California. We shot at Blare’s offices and used our Sony FX6 with Sigma Prime Lenses and lit with our new Aputure 600D light.
