ABBA - Voulez-Vous Trailer.mp4

The critical and popular success of our creative director Youssefverse's ABBA: Voulez-Vous music video in 2023 prompted him to come up with a follow-up project: a cool-ass trailer for the music video! Part marketing video and part talent-exposing/portfolio-building motion picture, the trailer showcases Youssefverse's versatile skills as an editor, creative designer and cinematic entity to be (someday) reckoned with. The music video and its trailer also represent his dedication to Disco, love of ABBA and his craft as a professional purveyor of motion pictures. ABBA- Voulez-Vous (YV Disco Uber Edit).mp4

I) Music Video Concept In the Spring of 2023, I started teaching a college digital video editing class where students were tasked with creating, developing and implementing projects to edit. One of the three major projects that I assigned them was the creation and implementation of a music video based off of a song of their choice. This was met with collective enthusiasm by the students, and they happily sprang into the work. It was at this point that I decided to create a music video edit project of my own, as it had been a while since I actually cut any video –– for employment or for my own creative pursuits. I settled on the extended version of ABBA's classic 'Voulez-Vous' (album: 'Voulez-Vous', 1979, Polar Music) –– a classic disco/dance song from one of my favorite music groups. The music video represents my dedication to Disco, love of ABBA and my craft as a professional film & video editor. Crank up the speakers and enjoy! II) Technical Facets Here are some facts and figures relating to both the music/audio as well as the movie/video elements: Music: Voulez-Vous (single: 4:22m; extended: 6:15m); (album: 'Voulez-Vous', 1979, Polar Music) Motion Pictures • ABBA: Voulez-Vous music video (Polar / 1979 / dir: Lasse Hallström; color / 35mm film / 1.37:1) • All That Jazz (20th Century Fox / 1979 / dir: Bob Fosse; color / 35mm / 1.85:1) • American Hustle (Sony Pictures Releasing / 2013 / dir: David O. DISCOTHEQUE Conceptual Trailer #1.mp4

I) Music Video Concept In the Spring of 2023, multi-hyphenate filmmaker and content creator YoussefVerse taught a college digital video editing class where students were tasked with creating, developing and implementing projects to edit. The last of the three major projects that he assigned was the creation and implementation of a movie trailer based on an existing movie –– ranging from 1973 to 2008. This was met with collective enthusiasm by the students, and they happily sprang into the work. It was at this point that Professor Youssef decided to create a movie trailer edit project of his own –– but with a twist: his trailer would be one of a movie that doesn't exist yet! One of those film projects happens to be DISCOTHEQUE, an exciting disco-fueled yarn about Manhattan's hottest new night club in an alternate 1979. Already having launched a preliminary website (www.discoflick.com) and accompanying social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, etc.), along with branding logos and poster artwork –– the next logical step is this conceptual teaser trailer. Though the developing concept of DISCOTHEQUE will, by no means, be a mere quickie rip-off of other disco movies (SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER, THANK GOD IT'S FRIDAY, etc.) –– Youssef is hoping for a decent budget for what will be a period picture with a robust disco music soundtrack. But the first conceptual trailer itself should have the look and feel of those B-movie antecedents imbued with A-picture gloss. It is to be the first step in the eventual realization of a major motion picture event... II) Technical Facets Here are some facts and figures relating to both the music/audio as well as the movie/video elements: Music Space - "Tango in Space" (4:30m, 130bpm); album: "Magic Fly", 1977, Disques Vogue/Sony Music) Motion Pictures • 54 (Miramax / 1998 / Dir: Mark Cristofer; Color / 35mm film / 1.85:1) • American Hustle (Sony Pictures Releasing / 2013 / Dir: David O.
