Hey, Stage 32ers! I hope if you're not recovering from a Thanksgiving feast that, no matter where you are in the world, you're ready to relax and enjoy the weekend!
The holidays are always a great time to look back and applaud the "wins" from the past year, and this community has had some pretty big ones. From booking gigs to signings to projects that are getting made, your passion for your craft and love for this community are what make every success on Stage 32 so incredibly special.
Today is also Black Friday! And Stage 32 is celebrating with 20% off SITEWIDE! As we look at some of 2022's recent successes, maybe there's an opportunity for you to kickstart your next career move with the help of the Stage 32 team and services.
Lee Shargel found enormous success at the American Film Market after working one-on-one with Little Studio Films' Alexia Melocchi on his pitch. His ability to quickly encapsulate his projects in an exciting way won over multiple people at AFM.
Pitches have a great track record here on Stage 32. Whether it's in the Pitch Tank (and Pitch Practice with Brooklynn Fields and John Mezes in the Writers' Room), Stage 32 Pitch Sessions, or creating Pitch Decks that grab the industry's attention. Just look at Kim Hornsby, who landed representation with Tessa Shaeffer at Corvisiero Agency after pitching Tessa her romance story.
I would be lying if I didn't say that some of the most exciting success stories are the ones where our community comes together to make a project come to life, which is what happened recently with Amman M. Said. Looking to tell a unique visual story using a nontraditional cinema screen, Amman brought together people together through the Stage 32 Job Board to make a short film with him called THE CONVERSATION.
And Amman isn't the only one with a recent production. Monica LaVella used Stage 32 to create her own "DIY Film School." She scoured the Writers' Room Vault, took a screenwriting intensive lab to write her script, developed her project with a Stage 32 Mentor, and networked like it was her job. Now, she's in production on her project (Monica wrote about her process before going into pre-production here).
While we're at it, let's also shout out to everyone who has connected and collaborated on awesome projects! Just recently, Maurice Vaughn landed multiple gigs through connections on Stage 32 for both writing and pitching materials, and Katherine Arifin also snagged graphic design clients through Stage 32.
We also have to take a moment to congratulate the hundreds of successes that writers just like you have found through Stage 32 contests. There are currently multiple contests (and Open Writing Assignments for Writers' Room members) that are accepting submissions, including the 2nd Annual Action/Thriller Screenwriting Contest and the 4th Annual Feature Drama Screenwriting Contest.
Thank you to everyone for the compassion, ambition, and collaborative spirit that makes Stage 32 what it is. I hope you're all taking advantage of the Black Friday discounts because you deserve to put yourself and your projects first. And I can't wait to see what you all do next!
