Here's a little inspiration and wisdom as you head into your weekend. Feel free to share how you prevent burnout and keep yourself in flow state.

Thanks for the inspiration and wisdom, Kat Spencer. I need to get better at doing it, but I rest to prevent burnout. What's flow state?

What I Want - My Virtual Vocalist Journey Continued

I have certain 'processes' when I search for new software.  This 'methodology', I use is based on 30+ years of IT experience (19 of them where my primary job was to evaluate new hardware and software technologies for Exxon).  I do not look for software by first identifying the candidates and then se...

What’s Your “Desert Island DAW”?

If you were stranded on a desert island (yeah, I know—cliché), and you could only have one DAW—the last DAW you'll ever use—which one are you choosing, and why?

The Heartbeat of a Score

I’ve been thinking a lot about how a well-crafted musical theme can stay with an audience long after the credits roll. It’s not just about creating something catchy, it’s about writing something emotionally honest that reflects the soul of the story or character.

Think about how Hans Zimmer shaped th...

Renae Richardson, I couldn’t agree more, the score is often the unnamed star of the story. It’s that invisible thread that weaves emotion into every frame, and like you said, long after the dialogue f...

Unreleased Scores

Here is some of of what went on with my previous project:

1. The opening scene of the film happens in a grocery store.  I needed to come up with grocery store music.  The music I created was not 'musak' enough.  Eventually we agreed to leave music out of the opening scene.  The opening scene mockup w...

So has anyone have one or more scores they completed paid or unpaid and the score was not used in the film? What happened? I am sure I am not the only one.

Vince Lacey Lauria

When they want you to match a temp track things go awry. I say listen to my idea with an open mind and heart and it could go farther than the temp track. But most the time they want the tempo track sound. sorry bro

Anyone score a whole film and then none of it was used? Hard to believe it only happened to me....

AceStudio, AI Virtual vocalists

A few weeks ago, I decided to take a look (one free week) at software that claims to be able to create a vocal track based on musicxml and lyrics.  Most of this class of software 'extends' the piano roll paradigm used by the AEM (Audio Engineering Model).  Two things are added to a vocal track by th...
