Now this is interesting.

For Composers who (more often than not - including me) have to mix their own creations. What are your thoughts?

Jeff Briggs

I do something similar. I use a Bose SoundLink Micro to check my mixes. I wouldn't call it a Sh*tbox by any means but it's basic enough for my purposes.

Linwood Bell

I always check things in mono somewhere along the way. I've got a pair of auratones out in the garage. I should probably bring them back in here!

Kerry Kennard

I remember an Engineer in Nashville, TN in his Indie studio doing a test at low and regular volumes. It's a nice way to test your mix / mastering also.

What won't you score

Aside from financial considerations, are there films that you haven't or won't score if offered? For example, would you turn down a film based on it's content (such as a political statement or certain people are involved)?

I once pondered the pros and cons of the very unlikely situation where I was o...

Interesting take on type-casting. Like, does one score for a project they disagree with on ethical or moral grounds? Or avoids a genre they don't want to end up writing for? Or does one just put notch...

Copyright, AI, music services - oh My !

I Thought this was an interesting article regarding copyright and AI .

Know it’s not composing, though. It’s good to know for composers and what’s going on out there.

Composing The ‘Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F’ Score Was Fate For Lorne Balfe

I just watched this over the weekend and there was a nice mix of in your face nostalgia, with subtle hints of nostalgia on the score. Would be curious to hear your thoughts on this score. https://www.forbes.com/sites/simonthompson/2024/07/10/composing-the-beve......
