AMA? What do streamers pay (ballpark) for a movie like yours?

Ron Jackson

It’s not what streamers pay it’s what they charge. The streamers decide the price. Then about 50% of the sales stays with the streamer. The money goes to the sales agents which keeps about 20% for their commission.

In the end I get 80% of half, not much.

Stephen Folker

Dan MaxXx rev share for all the small streamers unless you get a deal with Hulu or Netflix, Tubi Original, etc.

Olivia Drake

Congratulations Ron! That’s an incredible accomplishment!

Samuel Morney

Amazing!! Congrats Ron!

Francisco Castro

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

SherLann D. Moore

Congratulations! I'm currently watching it on Prime. Nice work for a $78,000 budget!

Ron Jackson

Thanks SherLann. Please don't reveal the end.

The director, Henry Barrial, has 6 features under his belt and sold his first film out of Sundance. The DP, John DeFazio, filmed a feature for John Schrader and the editor does national TV. This is my third feature. I encourage everyone to write a contained story and then try to produce it themselves. Good things come from that formula.

Brenda Lee Lau

Ron and or anyone else I'm curious how to get my feature doc to a streamer - did you have an intro or is there another way? I would love to have a conversation if you're open to it? thanks so much!

Ron Jackson

To get to a streamer you need a sales agent. To get a sales agent try this list from The American Film Market. You'll need a 100% finished film, an excellent trailer, and probably a one-sheet. Look at these agents and select only those who do your kind of film. Not all sales agents sell all films - https://americanfilmmarket.com/exhibitor-list/

Wow. You just saved people months of work and heartache. That is excellent information. Thank you very much

Brenda Lee Lau

Thanks yes. Stand out sizzle/trailer - done. If you're so inclined please take a look? https://vimeo.com/449778994?share=copy.

Ron Jackson

Brenda - I think the trailer is about a minute too long. Cut the repetition. Once you’ve done that try submitting to https://www.indierights.com/indiefilmdistribution/

Pat Alexander

Nice! Gonna check it out!

James L. Lytle III

Congas Ron, I have prime and will check it out. I'm sure you'll be looking out for more content in the future. May I suggest a fantasy/drama? Check out my profile and see what you think! Yes, it may be a big budget production! I'm sure that if it's a good risk, it's worth taking. Have a great weekend.

Brenda Lee Lau
