OK - need some advice. I just finished a script that is best comparative to a "6th sense" type of script - psychological thriller ( though no one is seeing dead people... lol). Which of the executive's of the Happy Writers coverage list would be best to get feedback from?

Is writing short screenplays a way to build a resume?

I'm a "late bloomer" in the field of screenwriting. Its something I've really come to enjoy. I read somewhere that getting "short screenplays" produces is a way to build a "resume" and get "noticed. Wondering what my friends here at Stage 32 think of this idea? I've written a few "shorts", posted one. Should I do more? Thought....

William Martell

I think the WHIPLASH short was used as a way to find funding for the feature. The problem with short films in the USA is that there is no real market for them, so they go unseen by anyone who can help...

I have two examples, personal ones, that have both come from shorts I've written 1) a producer has bought a short script from me because he wants to make it into a feature at a future date. I'll recei...

Just finished a "Short Screenplay" - hope to post it and get some feedback. Maybe find someone interested it producing it. Anyone that likes short stories that are in the vein of "The Twilight Zone" material I think might enjoy it. Its called "The Apology"

Huge thanks to Stage 32 and the Blood List!

I haven't had the chance to post much here since joining a short while ago, but I would love to share this bit of great news. My script Devil's Shadow made the Top 13 in the Stage 32/Blood List Search for New Blood Contest! What a fantastic feeling! Congratulations to my fellow finalists!

Larry Woldenberg

I know the feeling. I was a quarter finalist. Congratulations! Well done.

Jenny Masterton

Congrats. But lets hope you eventually sell it!

Ed Protzel

Screenplay coverage

Just finished a script that I'm very excited about. I want really good coverage to help me work out any kinks. Who have you used and would you recommend?

J. Ralph Fisgus MD

Well - I ve about finished my second screenplay. Boy have I learned a lot this last year. The progression in my writing has been dramatic. With help of fellow Stage32 friends, this script is a huge jump from the first. About ready to copyright and send out for coverage. Who do people recommend for c...

Camera Angle Notation? To do or not to do in your script?

So as I look at a variety of scripts for films that I respect in artistic and mechanical terms (in various draft stages) I see that some scripts seem to include camera angle detail for each action sequence where as others just frame character motivation and movements. Now working on my 2nd and 3rd s...

To some extent, this depends on what the screenplay is for. Is it a spec or are you writing this for either yourself or someone who has commissioned you to write it? In other words, you're already on...

At the risk of repeating myself, at no time ever should you include camera angles. Even POVs are irrelevant. Unless you are funding, producing and directing the film, then your ONLY job is to tell the...
