Debbie Elicksen By definition, ChatCPT brings forward the lowest common, most often used data and patterns. In writing, that guarantees the most overused, hackneyed unoriginal and cliche stories and ideas. So a smart writer uses it to find out what is awful or overused and to be avoided. A writer who finds anything "original" in there is pretty much by definition poorly educated and unaccomplished.

I agree with David Boller I have been to Kidscreen and Mipcom and I have been getting some training in developing a bible for animation from experts in the industry and they say the same thing. You need an agent. OTT's are in demand so you cannot go directly to them and even if you can they usually give you a generic answer. Unless you are already well known.

The proof of concept as well seems to be very important in getting interest and traction.

The only other way I have heard will help is if you have a named writer or producer on the project. A name that will grab attention.

I would say look in online communities for actors and crew who want to work on a passion project. See if you can find them on forums like this. See if they are willing to partner and help you with a proof of concept. Make sure they are well fed and in some cases have transportation. When the pandemic is over, organize and get to shooting. Use this quarantined time to get the pre-prod out of the way so that when you get to meet them in person everything is figured out.

Get it done, have fun and hit the festival circuit. Another big tip I received is get a paid IMDB account and look up agents and find out what festivals they are going to and submit to those (When festivals come back online of course). You want to ensure they see your proof of concept and you get a chance to talk to them.

That's the best advice I can give. I am still learning myself, so I am sure more seasoned persons can give you advice better than mine. Just wanted to share the bit I have learned.

It all depends on the quality and possible star power of your film. There are many ways to get your film to an audience. But a few of the reputable mid-size distributors are Indierights, Gravitas, The Orchard...there are many more but often with shady track records...see thread below about Distribber.

Time are gonna get rough for Netflix for sure. The direct tie of its stock evaluation to its subscriber base could break its neck if the happenings of last quarter are an indication and the just came short of 2.5 Million subscribers versus 5 million expected. What's gonna happens once they start loosing subscribers?

Netflix thought all they had to do was borrow a few billion and they could control the entertainment industry. But for producers, their business model is just as abusive, if not more, than the traditional distributors and studios they have tried to replace. If they go down, I won't miss them, no one will.

That is the saddest part, that the so-called disruptors are becoming worse than the what existed before...you can clearly see this in the deteriation of Amazon Studios...

I was wondering the same, since Alex Ferrari posted in his latest podcast/rant about distribution on Filmtrepreneur warned of Distribbr, since he supposedly received complaints from filmmakers. i think he felt kinda uncomfortable since he promoted them heavily on his podcast over the years and also distributed one of their films with them. P.S. Hope this helps. As an alternative you can also try Quiver (got a better reputation) as well as Filmhub. com which has a slightly different deal. No upfront and 20% on the backend. Once thing that makes me kinda uncomfortable is that there are now two services between me and the customer. As Adam from Filmhub erxplains. fi they don't get paid from for example iFllx (South East Asia, although I think their owned by Sony and probably will be liquid) or any other service you have a hard time to collect from due to distance) neither will you get paid. So you're waiting for everybody being honest and honor the reports. Which may or may not work...

UPDATE: Allex Ferarri just confirmed in a FB live video that Distribberr officially under reorganization. All the key people left and offices are closed. Mo more movies are being accepted and royalties and refunds are frozen. He will upload a podcast later this morning on the Indiefilm Hustle site with more detailed info... so I guess that answers the OP.s question.

Distribber is going bankrupt and involved in a several lawsuits which will affect it's ability to survive. Stay away.

I have a film with them and after 8 months they have never done that they say they would do. For any new filmmaker out there I would avoid them like the plague.

Animation will almost most certainly be more cost-effective. Focus on that first...

I need a producer with whom I can partner to bring to life the following project. It's about immigration and totalitarian regimes scapegoating immigrants as well as about the people developing a sense of ownership over their own government, which they take from the hands of aristocrats and Supremacists after a bloody civil war. This project is for a producer who is not afraid of new concepts, is not afraid of sociopolitical issues and wants to make a difference. This is a series and I have covered the creative part corresponding to four seasons. But I a penniless nobody, so I don't have the connections to bring this project to life by myself, just my work to back my words.
