Daniel Danitto I'm learning and accepting this as well after several moments of burnouts and breakdowns. Sometimes the absolute best thing to do as a creative and human is pause and take a whole step back. Love this for you, what's your favorite thing to do when you take a pause? I personally have found walking to be the most relaxing and simple thing to add into my day. Sunlight recharges my soul lol.

Arcane, Toy Story, The Lion King, The Wild Robot, Adventure Time, and others are the bar for me, Sean Rodman.

Into The Spider-Verse is another of my favorites, because it showed on a large scale that not everything has to look like Disney or Pixar.

Funny enough, the co-owner (who handles all the animation in our company), tried to put me onto the show early on but I wasn't having it. Only to be bored one day and decide to give it another try. Great animation, still need to finish it but I see why it has generated the attention it has. While I don't specifically handle animation (I'm audio). I would say the musical scene in sinners where they mash up the different genres, culture and styles into one seamless audio was eye open and pivoting for my career and what I would like to achieve in my craft. Sean Rodman I also like The Spider-Verse it's one of the animation that inspired our co-owner.

I was late to Arcane as well. I don't play League of Legends and an IP based on a so-so video game had zero appeal to me. But a year after the first season was out, I was hearing rumblings that it was amazing. Late one night I fired it up on a whim. I think it was about 10 minutes in when I realized that I was watching something special. I had no idea it was going to turn out to be one of my favorite pieces of entertainment of all time, but I could sense pretty quickly that it was out of the ordinary.

I played League of Legends waaay back in the day but yeah. I was late on it, glad I have it a chance. Need to go back in and finish watching the seasons.

Thanks for sharing the video, Pat Alexander. I think Aztec Batman is a great idea! Animators, producers, writers, etc. can take their characters and stories in different directions to keep their projects fresh, like Aztec Batman.

This looks incredible Pat Alexander. I love these "Elseworlds" type DC stories. To my knowledge, they don't call it that anymore but the books were amazing. "Son of Superman" and "Holy Terror" (Batman) were my favorite.

This is amazing. The art style takes me right back to my childhood, and I really appreciate how thoughtfully cultural elements are being woven into the visuals and story. Kudos to the team for bringing genuine representation to life!

Bob Harper exactly, the executives are going to have to have proof of what ends up working and to do that they'll need to take the necessary risks on trusting creators who love the source material. Just like we're finally, after decades, seeing video game adaptations get momentum

Season 1 has been out for some time Kevin Jackson but "My Adventures with Superman" flirt with Anime style. It's a great show.

K-Pop Demon Hunters (which is unique in other ways besides anime-adjacent animation) is THE No. 1 thing in the history of Netflix. So, the audience is there, even taking into account Hunters had a unique demographic appeal. My own show "Dungeoneers" - which is currently a semifinalst in the 6th Annual New Voices in Animation Contest - I think would have broad appeal despite it being very adult. It's an ambitious show, but I would attempt a pre-Star Wars George Lucas approach - try to build the animation equivilant of an ILM that allows quality, human-driven animation to be done faster, cheaper and in a way that doesn't break the backs of the animators. Maybe something like that is impossible (because why hasn't anyone done it?) but I'd still try. As much admiration as I have for Arcane (and I'm its biggest fanboy) I'd want Dungeoneers to MAKE money for the studio backing it, especially given its an original IP.

Great article, Kevin Jackson. Bob Harper said it perfectly — Hollywood has been flirting with content influenced by animation for years. I’m based in Dallas and like to keep an eye on Crunchyroll, especially since Sony’s acquisition and its merger with Funimation. With Keith Le Goy emphasizing anime and gaming as the future of global IP, I think Sony is definitely headed in the right direction. It’ll be interesting to see how they continue bridging the gap between traditional entertainment and the growing world of anime-driven storytelling.
