Final Draft only acceptable script format?

Hi all, I'm trying to resolve an informational conflict I'm coming up against re: submitting screenplays in Final Draft vs. Word vs. PDF. I see calls for screenplays in which producers and agents seek scripts in either PDF or RTF (Rich Text Format), which can both be generated via a Word doc source....

Worry not MNHMLB (that's a mouthful) I always write with tongue firmly lodged in cheek.I saw no disrespect in what you said. I only write what I write because someone has to give this place a little light as the darkness can be numbing at times.

Chris Keaton

You'll be submitting PDF files. No need for the the source file unless someone bought the screenplay and then they can put it in whatever format they want.

Shea Christian Reinke

Me? send all 5 versions you have as attachments. Megabytes are cheap :-) eh?

Log Lines - you show me yours, I'll show you mine

I am trying to perfect my log lines If you critique mine I will critique yours. This is from a romantic comedy I wrote: "Is a sea monster living in a Canadian lake? That question draws out a successful lawyer from her big city practice and into a hilarious search for her true calling." I wrestled with using the term hilarious.

Matthew Roze

Hi Kris! Thank you for your request, much appreciated.

David Mamet

A few years ago, I was becoming interested in the works of playwright David Mamet. I had recently seen and enjoyed the movie State and Main with, among others, Philip Seymour Hoffman. It reminded me that I had earlier enjoyed House of Games which was also written and directed by David. At the time,...

Sharknado script

Does anyone have a copy of the Sharknado script? I have searched online and only come up with a crap .PDF with dialogue only. There must be someone out there willing to share this masterpiece!

Peter, James Gunn got his start working for Trina, writing and directing. Now, he has written and directed both Guardians of the Galaxy movies. So, even those movies have something they can teach us.

Lawrence of Arabia - a great influence. What others?

Recently I read the screenplay Lawrence of Arabia over three evenings and watched the film on the fourth. The script is 267 pages. I first saw the film about ten years ago, and to be honest, felt lost. This time I researched the history surrounding it, and also being older, had a much fuller compreh...

LAWRENCE OF ARABIA is one of my all time favs. The dialogue (used sparingly) written by Robert Bolt is brilliant.

Would be remiss not to mention Robert Towne's 'Chinatown,' the script Syd Field references the most in the work he's published on screenwriting. Whatever you think of Field's work, 'Chinatown' is a hell of a script to pull apart and study.

Simon King

LoA is absolutely a go-to for how a story should be told; screenplay or otherwise. Another is Chinatown; the perfect combination of dialogue, action, character, and setting.
