Recently, I had the pleasure of speaking to about 200 film students at a college outside of California. Before the session started, I distributed a questionnaire. One of the questions listed was "What do you believe will be the biggest roadblock to your success in making it as a filmmaker?" Over 30% answered "Not being able to afford a move to Los Angeles." I was surprised. Their instructors were floored. One of them mentioned that on the very first day of class he…

As Sinatra famously sang, if you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere. Today's guest blogger, Kimberly Faye Greenberg, set out to conquer Big Apple stages twelve years ago and she's been working consistently ever since. She's a force of nature and a testament to the fact that when it comes to furthering your career, what you do offstage is as important as what you do onstage. In this guest post, and with true collaborative spirit, Kimberly generously shares so…
Today's guest blogger, actor Andrew Ward, explains how technology has helped him move beyond the "old agent system" to take his career to the next level. Andrew decided that he was no longer going to be a submissive to the industry. He adopted a "gladiator" approach toward his career in an effort to gain paid jobs and respect within the industry - becoming what he calls, a "GladiActor". Enjoy, RB
As many of you know from our Mission Statement, Orson Welles played a significant role in the naming of this site. I am one of those people who has a warm spot for Welles. I believe that time has treated him quite unfairly - perhaps even more unfairly than he was treated when he was at the pinnacle of his craft. Surely, there is no arguing his prodigious talents as a writer and a filmmaker. And as an actor, one could surely make the argument that he remains seriously underrated and under…

A half dozen stone-faced execs on me. Couldn't tell whether they were riveted or just wishing I'd wrap up and get the hell out of there. But, I don't care. I'm pitching with passion - voicing the characters, sound effects, you name it. I mean, I'm bringing it. Everything I have. I finish by standing …
