Hello everyone! Just curious, what is everyone working on now and is there anything holding you back?

Hey, gang. I'm a screenwriter with a few polished scripts under my belt, so I decided to turn a few of them into novels. Cool, right. so, does anyone have any encouraging words of advice?
Anthony, page 8 is a solid start. I will take you up on your offer and shoot you some questions if/when I get to that point. Good luck, sir!
You're welcome, Douglas Esper.

Expand commentI found my biggest adjustment were forgetting about dialogue tags (he said, she said, etc.) to keep track of who's saying what, and the freedom to be as descriptive as I wanted to be when it came to describing clothes, people, and places. Granted, I tended to go wildly overboard and ramble, but there was definitely a period of writing where I realized that I could go a little nuts - within reason, of course! And the urge to have characters run their internal monologues.... but overall, it's been a really fun exercise! Best of luck with it all :)

Looking forward to being apart of the community!

What’s been your favorite movie, show, book, sports game, etc. so far this year? My favorite movie this year is INTERSTELLAR. I know, it took me a WHILE to watch it. Haha It's a beautiful, phenomenal film!
And this weekend is Stage 32's Introduce Yourself Weekend (Friday the 17th - Monday the 20th)! Introduce/reintroduce yourself here in the Introduce Yourself Lounge.
My favorite movie is, "It's a Wonderful Life".
It truly is a movie that is deep and moving, and reminds me how wonderful life can be, especially the connections we makes with others.
Hi, Charmane Wedderburn. IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE is one of my favorite Christmas movies, but it's a great movie to watch anytime.
Hi Maurice! The movie addresses many of life's dark moments.

I'm Chris Watt, a Scotland (Aberdeen) based screenwriter and script consultant. I wrote the screenplay for the horror thriller feature film STALKER (2022) starring Sophie Skelton (Outlander) as well as the screenplay for feature film THE MIRE (2023), both of which you can find on Prime Video, Tubi, other digital services (Stalker is also on bluray/DVD).
I wrote the script for the award winning short film BRUISE, back on 2022, which played at Oscar and BAFTA qualifying festivals all over the world. I am a member of BAFTA Scotland, and recently was the Grand Prize Winner of the Shore Scripts TV Pilot Competition, with my script SOUTHBANK.
I write any genre, primarily in the dramatic comedy area, but I am currently working on a new horror film, another short and potentially an adaptation of a children's book.
As a script consultant, I have worked for numerous screenwriting competitions, as well as contributing as a script supervisor and advisor for the BFI Film Labs in Scotland, and advising numerous indie filmmakers.
Any questions, don't be afraid to connect with me.
That sounds interesting, Chris Watt. I don't think I've seen that genre mix in a Horror movie. How's the film coming along?
what are some common mistakes you see as a script consultant? Any advice for people new to script writing?
Hi Chris, welcome, just doon the road from you in Stirlingshire.

I am an actor/musician from Cleveland, Ohio. Last April, I was set to play a detective in a slasher flick, but the production was delayed an entire year as the main cast member got a role in a long-running theater production. I used the unexpected free-time to delve into my first screenplay. I have published novels and short stories before, but was surprised by how much I enjoyed learning a whole new way of writing and exploring story. I spent most of the year editing/rewriting and am now starting my next screenplay, knowing enough to know I have a lot to learn. I look forward to picking your brains.
On the music front, my band The Firmary just released a rock EP and on the acting front, I am going to still play that detective this April. Trivial, a revenge torture movie I filmed in 2023 is on fandango and several other streaming sites, and Bunker Heights, Creature feature with a killer cast and crew should be out later this year. Let's connect?

You're right, Suzanne Bronson. It does sound like a Horror setting too. I love CLUE. I haven't seen AND THEN WERE NONE. I just added it to my watch list. Thanks.
Suzanna, thanks, and yes, those are two great whodunnit movies ( and books and a board game, heh). My screenplay is set out in the storm, so it has a man (and woman) vs. nature survival plot as well....
