8 Film Festival Do's and Don'ts

I’ve been fortunate to have my work screened at some pretty amazing festivals. Thin Line in Texas. The London Underground Film Festival. And most recently at TRIFI in my home state of Washington. It’s not only a thrill to know people will be watching your work on the big screen. It’s also exciting to be in the audience with them. To do a Q&A afterward. To rub shoulders with other filmmakers. To visit a new city. The whole package. But sometimes your expectations d…

Part I: The Diary Of A Sundance-Bound Madman

Producer Ross Putman, a long-time Sundance attendee, now with a film there for the first time, will check in with us before, during, and after the festival so you can see - in his words - "the complete degeneration of his mental well-being." He also hopes that you can get a feel for the coolness and craziness of America's best film festival. Ross's film, First Girl I Loved, directed by Kerem Sanga and starring Dylan Gelula (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) and Brianna Hildebrand (Deadpool) wi…

Behind 'Fallen Stars': Premiering AFF Opening Night

One of the most exciting things about running Stage 32 is watching our members reach success through networking and hard work. Today I'm excited to share the story of writer/director and Stage 32 member, Brian Jett. Through networking, Brian developed a relationship with Stephanie Marin, a veteran producer and Stage 32 executive. Together they helped bring Brian's latest film, Fallen Stars, featuring Ryan O'Nan (The Iceman, Eat, Pray, Love) to the 2015 Austin Film Festival.  As…

Our Fearless Leader Selected to Raindance Jury

We're extremely excited to announce that our fearless leader and CEO of Stage 32, Rich "RB" Botto has been selected as a Festival Juror for the 23rd Raindance Film Festival. RB will be viewing and judging all the films in competition at Raindance and will be involved in the process of choosing the overall best picture. I stopped RB in the hall on the way to his 20th cup of dark roast for the day and he had this to say: "I'm not only deeply honored to be selected to the jury of a festiva…

Announcing the Winners of the 1st Annual Short Film Contest

The results are in…     Over the better part of the last two months, our judges have viewed hundreds of short films directed by our incredibly talented Stage 32 filmmakers. We’ve received thousands of pages of feedback. Within, one word came up over and over and over again:   Wow.   Having watched over 100 of these short films myself, and having attended numerous short programs at film festivals all over the world, I couldn’t agree more. The …

Don't Spend $10K on a Short & Have it Sit on Your Hard Drive

The August 2015 edition of the On Stage With RB webcast was a smashing success with over 3 hours jam packed with information! It's now available on-demand for you to watch for FREE! RB’s first guest Joe Bohn (1st AD) talks about how it’s vital to behave on set in order to make for a positive on-set environment. He breaks down what, in fact a 1st AD does on set and that you have 2 bosses – a director and a producer. They discuss how everyone on set has an opinion, but i…
