okay okay, maybe the headline was a bit much.. Anyways, I just finished a little bit ago with the open house. I must say, very informative. I am very new to the platform, like literally a week or two. Oh, not to mention, I’m also new to screenwriting, once again… like a week or two. And before I forget, I just finished yesterday a full 117 page feature film script… in like a week.
So, a little about me, because this is a reintroduction and I’m going to try and hit the highlights. Yes, you did read that right, no need to double check. I am new to screenwriting and busted out a 117 page full feature script. It’s a rough draft… but it’s done. I have a touch of ADHD, undiagnosed or maybe self diagnosed? Either way, I tend to hyper focus. It’s kind of like a super power honestly. But that’s why I can produce projects quickly.
Now at 41 years old, you may ask, why are you screenwriting now? To be honest, I have no idea? It’s got to be the ADHD. But I’ve always loved movies. Mainly R rated absurd stuff and of course horror films. But I am a very overly creative person. I also still haven’t figured out what I want to be when I grow up.
I thought I wanted to be a nurse. Actually, I am. I work 3 12 hour shifts as a registered nurse on a medical surgical floor. This allows me free time to write as an outlet. And let me tell you…. if you want some crazy medical stories, the stuff you see as a nurse is comedic gold. I could write a movie on nurses.
Aside from that, I am also a mechanic. Odd right? Like you slop in grease and then go to the hospital in a sterile environment? 100%! I run my own side business working on cars. I’ve always loved cars and I’m naturally mechanically inclined. So what better ways to add more stress to my life than to start writing yet too!?
So let’s sum this up and punch it home.. my phone tried to change punch to lunch, but I’m okay with lunch… Anyways, I can stay on track, I promise. But this little reintroduction is a little insight into my mind. One minute we’re here. then we’re there. oh a squirrel! I hope you get the point.
Long story short, I write absurd outrageous stuff because my mind does not stay in its lane. I am a very out of the box thinker and that’s why I adapt and go with anything thrown at me. I am far from OCD, I may be messy, but I can hyperfocus and tell a story that stays on track if I really want to!
