One of the more popular requests we get here at Stage 32 is information on best practices for promoting a crowdfunding campaign on social media. Recently, spurred on by the sheer amount of crowdfunding spam he was receiving on his Twitter and Instagram accounts, our CEO, RB, republished his popular Medium article: 5 Ways You Are Incorrectly Using Twitter to Promote Your Crowdfunding Campaign. Although the article singles out Twitter, these mistakes and ill advised practices are common …
For the last 30 years I have been writing poetry, lyrics and songs, yielding some great achievements along the way, mostly with my songs, but I have had two poems published in the past and have continued to write for the sheer joy and love of writing. I've always enjoyed poetry and it's a shame that over the centuries, it has dwindled as a definitive form of communication, but people do still enjoy writing it as a way of expressing feelings and events that maybe are difficult to express…

Last night was a very special one around these parts as our good friend Michel Merkt captured the Golden Globe for producing Best Foreign Film winner, Elle. As I mentioned in yesterday's blog, Michel has not only been a staunch supporter of all we do here at Stage 32, but he has worked with and mentored so many 32'ers through the years. Michel was kind enough to invite me to the premiere of Elle at the Cannes film festival last year. To be invited to be part of his tribe du…
I am extremely proud to announce that two members of our global community are nominated for a total of 4 Golden Globes this evening. First up, it’s my dear friend, Michel Merkt. Michel is an enormously accomplished producer who had 8 films at Cannes this year including 4 in competition. Tonight Michel has 3 nominations. In the Best Foreign Film category, Michel is nominated for producing both Paul Verhoeven’s terrific film, ELLE and Maren Ade’s international hit dramed…
As we like to say around these parts, creativity is universal. Many of you who have questioned why you would accept a network request from someone residing in another country have heard me preach that no connection is a bad connection. I'd like to believe the subject of today's success story, screenwriter Chandradeep Das, would agree. Chandradeep is very well connected in India, but it took him connecting with a Stage 32 member from Russia to finally get financing and a producin…
Well, we made it. We’re in the final stretch of the 2016 November 30-Day Write Club. I’d like to take a minute to thank the incredible Beth Fox Heisinger. Beth has been our tireless leader these last 2 years, motivating, inspiring and encouraging the incredibly talented writers here on Stage 32. The November 30-Day Write Club is not simply about the number of pages, or the length of time you spend writing, it’s a personal challenge to push yourself to reach your writi…
Do you often intend to check your emails quickly before your day starts and end up sitting with them for longer than you wanted? Do you feel stressed from the massive amount of disorganization in your inbox and are spending more time organizing them than actually working on your goals? You are not alone. Email technology is amazing, I love it, however as much as it can empower us, it can overwhelm us. Staying in control of your emails allows you to save time and focus on other areas of …
Hello friends and fellow creatives! Erik here from the Stage 32 Happy Writers. We are very excited to be continuing our fall series of "30 Minutes with...", an online web-series where we bring in executives across the industry for a live interview and Q&A session with writers like you! As a writer myself, I have an undoubted advantage that most new writers never get: I get to look behind the curtain, I get to hear first hand what executives are really looking for, what they're tire…
No weekend News and Notes blog this weekend because I'm out of town...However... As we approach the final stretch of 2016 I thought it might be a good time to reflect a little on the creative goals we set for the year. Need a refresher on the goals you set? Here is where we all checked in to start this year. How are you doing? Making progress? Lagging behind? Changing direction entirely? Let's talk about it in the Comments section below. And, of course, if there is the opportunity to a…
'The Whistles and Bells Test™' is a quick test you can carry out whenever you get the inspirational flash of a new story idea. It is a simple, cut-to-the-chase technique that can quickly give you a sense if you have either a story or a situation. It is not a substitute for learning the difference between a story and a situation, or for working through the full premise development process, but over time, with a lot of practice, using this test you can hone a kind of sixth-sense for …
