The Crow dissapoints at the Box Office

This was a long time coming and highly anticipated but it bombed pretty bad. What do you think? Is horror in a new place? Too make reboots? Poor timing at the end of August? Would love your thoughts on why this release didn't land. https://variety.com/2024/film/news/la-bamba-remake-development-mucho...

I watched the trailer twice, Sam Sokolow. The movie doesn't look interesting to me. And it feels like the reboot doesn't know what it wants to be. A Crow movie or a John Wick movie....

Pirate Streaming Operation Shut Down

It's probably an uphill battle, but it's a start. To figure out how many illegal streaming operations there are, just Google "full xxxx movie" or something similar to see how many sites pop up.

The BBC and Korean Creative Content Agency join forces

K-programming is the best. I'm addicted to K-drama myself, so to me, it makes sense for the rest of the entertainment industry to jump in. A dive into Japanese content should be next.

Sony India and ZEE Entertainment agree to withdraw claims against each other

Failed marriages can be super expensive, even if they were never consummated. Of course, suspicions of insider trading isn't an attractive quality for one of the partners.

It was clearly not a match made in heaven.

Sometimes we are defined more by what we say "no" to than what we say "yes" to... this was clearly a "no" moment for both. Hopefully, they put whatever they saved in legal disputes into content creators!

Lionsgate Apology For Megalopolis Trailer

Mike Boas nope, I can’t say I do. And maybe that’s because of a similar cock-up?

Disney Is Spending Big Bucks in Europe

It still may not be enough for me to rekindle my subscription. In Canada, we're lucky to get one new movie a month. Prime and Netflix provide much more value.

What are your thoughts on this? Is it big bucks on a handful of movies? Or are they actually investing in European film? Big difference.

Good topic to discuss. Best case, you make some good connections for yourself and your film. Worst case, you get some valuable practice in talking to professionals about your work.

@tomlapke makes sense. When the streamers try to do light hearted comedy ie sitcom style, it feels so forced and almost Disney-show-ish. Hopefully, someone will fill the niche. And then I can find something else to complain about ;)

Netflix has been hit or miss with multi-cam sitcoms. I didn't like Disjointed when they first tried, I loved Country Comfort but they canceled it. They have a new Chuch Lorre multi-cam series coming next year and I'm interested to see if he can pull off his CBS magic with them.

This is bad news for a small niche startup streaming service like mine! But I still have hope, confidence and enthusiasm! And the moms in my network love the idea!
